Module Overview:
The interaction between the local and the global context of health is complex due to diverse socio-economic, cultural and political contexts. This module highlights different perspectives on the social determinants of health at the global and ‘local’, within the context of the shared language of the right to health. The module includes an exploration of how local contexts influence individual experiences of health and illness and the implications of this for global health practice. Students are expected to develop an understanding of ‘culture’ in health and the application of equality and diversity frameworks in a wide range of global health settings.
