Module Overview:

In this unit, students will learn how to develop an appropriate research question from a given problem, and develop a research proposal for basic field research or professional research to evaluate a situation and inform practice. This may include the development of questionnaires and use of qualitative tools such as focus groups. Students will then develop this into a full research proposal, including an appropriate literature review.  Students will be expected to explore problems or issues that are particularly pertinent to their own humanitarian practice.  It is encouraged that this proposal should form the basis of their dissertation research.
